Memorial Service for Simon : Friday 13th March 2020

We are pleased to confirm that there will be a remembrance/memorial service for Simon, creator of Requiem to Cancer. This is being organised by his family and will take place in St Paul's Church, Covent Garden, London on Friday 13th March 2020 at 2pm. It is expected to last about an hour.
As to be expected there will be plenty of singing and we would like as many singers there as possible to give a great noise. With the family's blessing there will be three choral pieces sung, as well as opening and closing hymns.
With grateful thanks to composers Cecilia McDowall and Will Todd, and to OUP for their respective permissions, we will be singing the two anthems that were written for the 2016 & 2018 events. In addition we will also sing the 4th movement of Brahms' German Requiem "How lovely are thy dwellings" (in German). There will be a rehearsal for these items in the church starting at 12 noon. All music will be supplied on the day.
The invitation is open to everyone - both singers and non-singers - who would like to come to mark the life of an extraordinary man. The family would very much like to see the church filled. It would help them enormously if you could let us know if you would like to attend, as there will be refreshments after the service. Also, at the family's request, please wear colourful clothes other than black. It's not a sombre occasion - it's a reflection with fondness, a smile and a damn good sing.
Please let us know by sending an email to memorialsw@requiemtocancer.org and we'll pass on the numbers to them. Please also indicate in the email if you would like to be part of the chorus and, if so, which voice part.
Thank you. We look forward to seeing you there.
Ruth, Michael & Neil
